HUNTED : { Wedding Decor – Table Centrepiece Ideas }

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

After the magic of a wedding ceremony, guests turn to the reception and immediately food, drink and celebrations come to mind.

If you’re having a sit-down dinner, or in fact any sort of catering, then you’re bound to have organised a room for guests to sit and dine in. If yours is anything like a traditional wedding format, the chances are you’ll be in this room for a considerable period of time to account for eating, cake-cutting and speeches. With this in mind, then, when it comes to decor couples often put alot of effort into the ambience of this room. It doesn’t go unrewarded : as a wedding guest I often take an early snoop into the dining area to check out who I’m sat with and admire their creative efforts.

One of the key elements of decor that sets the tone is your choice of table centrepieces. This is really a chance for you to go as wild – or as conservative – as you wish.

If this fills you with fear and dread, I’ve initiated a hunt for the many examples of table centrepieces that have gone before, to help you on your way.

Floral Table Centrepieces

Wedding Table Setting Inspiration Outdoors

The use of flowers as a centrepiece, matching those chosen for the bridal bouquet / buttonholes / ceremony room is probably the most popular choice. But it still lends itself to a variety of creative formats. Here feminine pink and yellow flowers have been placed in a simple white bucket for a charming outdoor setting. [ image : here ].

Wedding Table Settings White

For a completely different floral treatment, see this Winter Wonderland spectacular. White flowers burst out of pewter and glass containers, with tea light votives and fake snow completing the look. [ image : here ]

Wedding Table Setting Ideas Purple Silver

Your florist may well have a variety of centrepiece aids available. If you’ve got purple flowers and want a somewhat gothic look, place a few blooms in a heavy pewter container. [ image : here ]

Wedding Table Setting Ideas Pinks Candles

Unless your reception is going to take place in constant daylight, I’d strongly urge you to consider candelight. The easiest way to add a soft ambiance, this example above shows how pink roses around large white candles set a romantic mood.

Wedding Table Settings Wildflowers Candle

If you want to add a little height you can easily ask your florist to arrange the flowers in an old-fashioned urn, with candle in the middle. [ image : my own wedding ].

Wedding Centrepiece Ideas Floral

A note of caution. Some height is good. Alot of height can be good. The height that means that your guests can’t see each others faces across the table is not good. This elaborate sunflower tree example, above, seems to have majestically swooped to the upper reaches, so no problems here. [ image : here ].

Wedding Centrepiece Glass Bowl

Or, you could discuss options for floating a few flowerheads in a glass bowl of water – particularly effective if you have a vibrant flower choice, like these pink gerberas.

Wedding Table Settings Ideas Elegant Pinks Creams

If you’re looking for a little glamour on your table, and you’ve got pinks and creams for your flowers, choose a pearlescent container with ribbon and diamante detail to set-off your tables. Note : there are those candles again. [ image : here ].

Wedding Table Settings Plants Candles

The use of flowers doesn’t automatically equate to floral and feminine. Succulents in glass jars on top of small stones gives an abstract desert feel, softened with candelight. [ image : here ].

Unusual Table Centrepieces

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Wedding Table Setting Ideas Simple

Centrepieces don’t need to be floral. You can get creative, and design unusual eye-catching tables. For an Autumn wedding with trestle tables, run green apples and leaves down the centre and you’re done. [ image : here ].

Simple Wedding Centrepiece Ideas Country

Centrepieces can also be very simple. Some branches in a mason jar are perfect for a simple, pared back country wedding table setting. [ image : here ]

Wedding Table Settings Unusual Browns Reds

If you have a nautical theme then choose shells and other marine life for decoration instead of flowers.

Creative Wedding Table Setting Ideas

Finally, centrepieces don’t need to be traditional. Take inspiration from parties if you’re a creative couple – like this Alice In Wonderland inspired event, complete with gold rabbit centrepiece. [ image : here ]

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

There is a world of centrepiece ideas out there.

Hopefully, I’ve started you away from the path of panic and on to the path of happy planning. And don’t forget, if you’re using a florist, they may be able to help completely with this part of decor. But of course, they’ll need your input and approval.

Are any of these stand-out ideas for you?

Or have you seen a really fantastic table centrepiece idea elsewhere?
