HUNTED : { Wedding Accessories – Winter Wedding Shawls }

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

I hate the cold. Despite being a Winter baby, nothing makes me more miserable than trudging around in freezing wind and rain. Give me balmy sunshine with a single cotton cloud in the sky any day of the week. Still, the one saving grace about Winter for me is Winter style : wrapping up warmly in a beautiful Winter shawl.

When it comes weddings clearly most couples sympathise with my weather tendencies. UK peak wedding season sits firmly in the (alleged) Summer month of May-October. There are, however, a large number of couples who opt for off-season weddings. Maybe it fits their schedule better. Maybe they noticed you can get better deals and guaranteed availability with suppliers. Maybe they’re just a pair of crazy cats who like the cold.

If you are planning a cold / Winter weather wedding, you’ll have extra planning considerations, including how to keep your guests and yourself warm. Brides, if you have skin anything like mine, you get goosebumps (and go an interesting shade of blue) as soon as the thermometer drops an inch. As I wouldn’t rate this in the top bridal looks, I’ve started a hunt for ways to keep yourself warm whilst still keeping fabulously stylish.

Knitted Shawl Bride Winter Attire

A shawl wrapped around your shoulders is an easy way to manufacture a little extra warmth at key moments. You can always lose it for the ceremony itself, although beware chattering teeth when trying to say your vows.

Shawls need not look like something your Granny made (no disrespect to my Granny, she’s an excellent knitter). Specialist designer My Shell Me Shell for example creates ranges of bridal shawls in whites and ivories that’ll add a fashionable, cosy touch to your outfit.

Winter Wedding Fur Cape Ideas

If you favour the cute bear cub / white riding hood look choose a hooded fur cape plus hood option, like this one via WeddingChicks. Frankly this doesn’t even look like it was a Winter wedding, but the bride clearly loves the item so much that she’s wearing it anyway.

Winter Wedding Ideas Wraps Shawls Fur

As a side note : if you are looking for a fur wrap, do the decent thing and go faux, like this little one from Wrap or Shrug.

Winter Wedding Bridal Accessories Furry Scarf

And as this bride via Green Wedding Shoes proves, your wrap doesn’t need to be white. an off-white / brown fur scary marks a contrast against the snowy backrdop. Well done for bravery standing in the midst of the snowscape too.

Wedding Ideas Winter Coverup

Finally, if you’d rather find optimum warmth, you could opt for a full-length bridal coat. This all white one via  Martha Stewart Weddings makes trekking in the snow look glamorous and enjoyable.
