HUNTED: { Alternative Wedding Cake – Pop Cakes }

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

The subject of this hunt was an entirely new concept to me. How does the wedding industry continue to innovate, even with something as simple as cake? And yet I’ve found sites full of images of these little additions to the wedding world : Pop Cakes.

Pop Cakes. The lovechild of a cake and a lollipop. Essentially they are a single cake-y bite on a convenient stick, that can be covered in a myriad variety of frostings, flavours, and centres to cater for any tastes.

The question is where would you use them in a wedding? Perhaps as a post dinner treat, potentially to accompany coffee. Perhaps instead of a traditional tiered cake. I have already joked about how you’d cut a cupcake tower. It’s safe to say trying to cut these stick cakes would be an impossibility …

If you’re thinking about using them for your day, here’s some images to aid inspiration.

Pop Cakes can certainly err towards the kitsch. Particularly if you choose vibrant, multi-colour creations like these from the aptly named supplier Pop Cakes.

 Or, more kitsch with these pink sugar-coated hundreds and thousands topped creations.

So you have seen how bakers are getting their creative heads on in miniature form. The other good thing about pop cakes? Half the time nobody eats wedding cake. At least with a one-bite option you know they won’t go to waste.
