HUNTED: { Wedding Miscellany – Guestbooks and Wedding Wishes }

Before my wedding day, the most popular piece of advice I received from married friends was the same as the words of wisdom of one Ferris Bueller :

Weddings move pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

This is the most valuable thing I can try and pass back to you if you’re planning your big day. The planning process can be long. The day goes in a glorious flash.

There are many things you can do to make the most of the day and preserve as many memories as possible. Try to take a few minutes of time out with your new partner. Have many photos taken, or even a video, that you can go back to time and time again. Finally, have some way for guests to leave enduring messages for you.

This hunt, then, is for ideas for guestbooks, wedding wishes, and any other method of capturing the wedding moment and making it last.

Etsy Wedding Tree DIY Fingerprint

A traditional wedding guest book is just that – a book. If you wanted to put a modern twist on the tradition you could consider a “wedding tree” instead.  In this DIY version from DesignByMadison on Etsy you create a personalised backdrop, print out, and ask your guests to sign individual leaves to be stuck on. Post-wedding the print can be framed and displayed rather than hidden in a bookcase. Another option would be for guests to sign / initial thumbprints if you provide an inkpad, although this gives quite limited space for messages.

Wedding Wishes Miscellany

A lovely idea I’ve stumbled across is the creation of a wedding time capsule, to be preserved and opened on a future anniversary. You’ll have to fight the urge to open it ahead of time, but what a fantastic memory to bottle for the future. [ image : Tumblr ]

Wedding guestbooks and wishes, I have a duo and will keep my eye for new additions.

Would you like to include either of these options on your day?

Or have you seen any other lovely ideas that you’d like to share?
