HUNTED: { Wedding Flowers – Alternative Bouquets }

Your wedding bouquet. All you need to decide is what size, colour and type of flowers you’d like to carry, right?

You can also decide if you even want flowers or if you’d like something else completely. Yes, you heard my correctly. Flowers are not the only fruit.

So, without further ado, I present to you alternative ideas for your wedding bouquet with not a single bloom in sight.

Wedding Ideas Bouquet Vintage Brooches 2012 2013

First up, we have the heirloom bouquet. Some of you may be wondering why you’d take this option. But think on this. You can spend an awful lot of money on a bridal bouquet which you hold for a sum total of 20 minutes, which will then sadly die over the course of the next few days.  Options like the heirloom bouquet are significantly more durable. They can be created using a variety of materials, in this case antique brooches, then tied in the colour themes of your day. This way your bouquet can last forever and be handed down as an “heirloom” – hence the name. Clever, huh? Realistically, these aren’t for every bride, and would probably fit best in a vintage themed do. But if you are conscientious about waste, whilst also loving sparkle, they’re a gorgeous alternative option. I particularly love the design above via tiny gems .

Alongside brooches, there are also available some very creative vintage button bouquets, like this one via Beau Buttons. Again, these can be uniquely customised around your wedding colours, and remove any anxiety regarding whether your flowers of choice will have blossomed properly.

Vintage Bridal Accessories

Bridal Accessory Fan Vintage

Sally Rand was a famous fan dancer in the 1930’s. Her philosophy on life was very Dita-von-Teese-esque. She was quoted as saying “I’m not the type to sit on the porch and watch life go by,” which I agree with whole-heartedly. With an ambassador like that, then, I bring you a bridal option that doesn’t begin to look floral : the feather fan. Perfect for the vintage or french influenced bride, this is a sexy and playful accessory. This handmade blush pink version with tiny pearls via Britten Weddings is a fantastic option.

Sally Rand also said “what in heaven’s name is strange about a grandmother dancing in the nude?” which she should also be applauded for.

Alternative bouquets. I’ll enjoy finding more of you over time.

What are your views on a non-flower bouquet?

Do you think it makes sense to save waste?

Or do you prefer to keep things traditional?
