HUNTED : { Wedding Favours – Edible Favours }

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

I’m pro wedding favours. They’re the party bag of the wedding day for me – you wouldn’t expect one, you won’t be upset if you don’t get one, but you’ll feel some childish joy to discover the couple have organised something.

#WeddingTip : I’ve said before and I’ll say again. If you are having wedding favours, try to make sure it’s something the guests will enjoy, want or use. Otherwise it’s not worth the spend.

Question: What does everyone like?

Answer: Food.

So food based wedding favours generally won’t last at long as durable items. But with the guaranteed happiness factor it’s worth the trade-off. There’s also an enormous range of possibilities spanning all budget levels, making food favours your flexible friend.

Inspiration to help you on your way has been hunted here.

Classic Edible Favours

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

The classic food based wedding favour is sugared almonds. Personally I think they’re a bit of a snooze-fest of a favour but don’t let what I think put you off.

Wedding Favour Food Ideas

If you are having them, opt an attractive holder, like this pail via Paper Themes.

Cake Based Favours

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Outside of the main wedding cake , individual cakes make great favours and are a creative blank canvas.

Cupcake Favour Ideas

Cupcakes make an excellent wedding favour. Individual items and with multiple decorative opportunities. If you’ve got sunflowers in your bouquet these cupcakes above would be perfect.

Wedding Favour Ideas Food

Pop cakes are an easy favour choice for similar reasons. If you’re going animal print / safari or just love a bit of bright, take inspiration from these stripey designs via Venue Safari.

Wedding Edible Favor Ideas

If you want to pretend that your favours have some nutritional goodness, this amazing looking tower of chocolate dipped strawberries via Choco Rococo could be an option. OK they’re not really healthy but they’re still delicious. And a small fraction of your 5 a day.

Home-made Edible Favours

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

If you’re crafts orientated, go ahead and make your own edible favours.

Wedding Favours Mason Jars Honey

Chances are you’re not an apiarist so the honey itself may not strictly be home-made, but you can at least jar some local produce yourself and add personalised tags (another use for those superstar mason jars )

Chilli Jam Wedding Favour

I can tell you from experience of my own wedding … and production of 80 jars of chilli jam … it’s a time-consuming but incredibly rewarding task. Months later the husband and I still get messages from people saying they’re just enjoying some of their chilli jam with cheese etc. In case you’re wondering re: the label, myself and the sister-in-law were a little drunk when we wrote them. Joyous was highly appropriate. (image via the fabulous Mr Phill).

Wedding Favours Sweet 2012

If you’re more into baking than … jarring (?) … you could turn your hand to these iced “Bride & Groom” cookie favours. [ image : Google ]

You could also go for a little cheat on the home-made and turn to a company like Baked By Me. They create these beautiful cookie making kits, so your guests can take them home, make sweet treats and think of you all over again.

DIY Wedding Favour Food

Even if you’ve no talent in the kitchen, you could take inspiration from these mouth-watering looking mini meringue favours and stamp your own “THANK YOU”  [ image : Elizabeth Anne Designs ]

Sweet Favour Ideas

Still stuck for favour ideas? Got a sweet tooth? Try some of these for inspiration.

Wedding Favours Chocolate Mini

I love the idea of a miniature nutella jar as a wedding favour. Simple. Delicious. Downside? If I was given this as a favour I’d have finished it before the starter even came.

French Wedding Favours Macaroons

Your food based wedding favour can also double very nicely as table place name holder. If your wedding is French influenced these macarons with name flags inserted are ideal [ image : papercake designs ].

Weddings Favours Ideas Individual

If your wedding isn’t French, you could always use personalised chocolate bars as a duo table name / edible favour solution [ via Beautifully Wrapped ]

Wedding Treats Circus Sweets Ideas

You can’t go too far wrong giving people sweets. Ignore that this labelled references “Happy Christmas Gran,” you get the gist of it [ via : We Do Company ].

Chocolate Wedding Favour Idea

With sweets comes the opportunity to get creative. I’m mightily impressed by the above idea for a Winter wedding – maltesers mixed with bubblegum with adorable results. Two thumbs up to A Personal Touch.

Drinkable Wedding Favours

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Before I wrap up this edible favours hunt I should end by saying edible in my case can also mean drinkable.

Wedding Favor Ideas Booze

Much like your food favours, your drink favours are very likely to disappear at the end of the night. Flavoured spirits like the ones above have an outside chance of making it out of the wedding. Either that, or you guests are going to follow the “Drink Me” order to the word and fall down the rabbit hole [ image : David Purslow Photography ].

Edible wedding favours : you have been hunted

Think I’m going to have to go hunt something edible for myself now.

Have any of these whet your appetite?

Or have you seen a brilliant food based favour idea that’s not been mentioned here?

Comments are always welcomed.

  1. I agree x that’s why I now make wedding favours…..pretty wire and bead light catching fairies that hang on a wishing tree….guests take one off and leave a hand written wish for the bride and groom on the tree to keep as their own momento x
