HUNTED: { Wedding Venues – Unusual Venues }

Wedding venue selection – one of the first, and most significant, choices you will make in the never-ending roster of Wedmin. Venue dictates so many other items of the day. Like guest numbers, catering options, decor possibilities, suitable themes and all logistics. No pressure.

Venue ideas you’ve probably considered include church / registry office / all-in-one venue / marquee in a garden / barn / castle. Below are a list of venues you may not have considered. Thanks to the relaxed nature of licensing laws in most cases you can not only throw a party at these, but also hold the marriage ceremony there too. Hurrah for 21st Century weddings.

Unusual Wedding Venues 2012

If you’re a couple who are the kings of the swingers, the jungle VIPs, cool cats or wild animals, then perhaps you could put a venue on your potentials list that’s totally away from the norm – like London Zoo. Sadly – or happily – you won’t literally be sharing your ceremony with tigers and eating with wolves (although there may be a few little pigs at the table depending on what your guests are like). London Zoo do, however, have pavilions within their grounds catering for between 80 – 260 guests, where you can view some of the animals from the safety of your venue. You can include added extras for your guests like animal encounters … and then for the night owls amongst you you can dance the evening away with a late license.

Unconventional Wedding Venue Ship

For those of you who dream of a more unusual venue, or those of you with pirate tendancies, the SS Great Britain can hold ceremonies of up to 70 guests. The impressive venue is static, so seasickness not a worry.

Wedding Venue Ideas 2012

If like me you hark back to those halcyon days before the internet even existed, when the joys of life involved making dens with your friends from old duvets and hopeless attempts to construct wildly dangerous treehouses in your back garden, you will be delighted to know it is possible to get married in a treehouse these days. One such venue is The Lodge, located in proximity to Glasgow. It’s a 5* luxury venue resting against a stunning loch backdrop and can hold up to 24 guests for a ceremony, with space for more diners on-site.

Unusual wedding venues, I’m sure there’s masses more of you out there and I’ll return in time to update.

Perhaps you know of an off-beat venue I’ve not mentioned?
