HUNTED : { Wedding Cake – Cake Favour Boxes }

If you believe everything that Wikipedia says (and quite frankly, you shouldn’t), the origin of the wedding cake goes back to the days of the Roman Empire. The Romans in their infinite wisdom used a loaf of bread rather than cake, which the groom broke over the bride’s head to symbolise dominance.

In the 21st Century, the practice of beating your wife with baked goods, or even the suggestion of “dominance / obeyance” during a wedding is potential grounds for immediate divorce. The  tradition of cake, however, flourishes, and continues to mutate into new forms such as cupcakes and cake pops.

As a couple planning your wedding you’ve probably planned what cake you’re having and decided when to do the traditional cutting.

What about the consumption?

If your guests have just eaten a three course wedding breakfast they really don’t need more food. In which case, purchase some beautiful cake favour boxes and ask your venue to cut and box the cake to give to guests to take home. Consider it a luxurious doggy bag.
